New Officer in Charge of Coast Guard Station
U.S. Coast Guard Station Marquette celebrates a changing of the guard this morning, saying goodbye to its officer in charge and welcoming his replacement.
BMC Brad Adams handed over the station’s command to BMC Brandon Liesen in a ceremony presided over by the Coast Guard sector commander from the Soo.
Liesen, an Illinois native, comes to the U.P. from service aboard a Coast Guard cutter based in Rhode Island.
It’s his first command assignment of a duty station and he’s looking forward to the missions he’ll carry out.
Adams came to Marquette in 2006 and watched over nearly 100 search-and-rescue cases.
He considered retirement but decided to stay in the Coast Guard.
Adams will move on to California, taking over as officer in charge at the Coast Guard station in San Diego.
