Plea Deal in SUV vs. Pedestrians Case
A downstate man accused of killing 3 women in Mackinac County by running them over with his SUV takes a plea deal.
28–year-old Dustan Bowen of Sanford pleaded no contest to 3 counts of negligent homicide on Friday.
He also pleaded guilty to 3 counts of failure to stop at the scene of an at-fault accident resulting in death.
Bowen was originally charged with 3 counts of 2nd-degree murder.
He admitted being the driver in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Newton Township last July.
Jonel Hoogterp and Julie Hatch, both from Durham, North Carolina, and Sara Dobbrastine of downstate Kent City all died from their injuries.
Bowen will be sentenced on March 18th in St. Ignace.
He could receive up to 22 years in prison.
