Vatican Removes U.P. Priest from Ministry
A U.P. Catholic priest has been permanently removed from the priesthood for sexual abuse.
Father Aloysius Hasenberg was accused in late 2008 of abusing a young boy.
Hasenberg is 87 years old and retired.
But he still celebrated mass at Immaculate Conception Parish in Watersmeet after his retirement.
The Vatican has barred him from wearing clerical clothes and publicly presenting himself as a priest.
The abuse allegation is said to date back many years.
The Diocese of Marquette received it in September 2008.
After an internal investigation, the diocese removed him from ministry and from his residence at Immaculate Conception’s rectory.
The Vatican has made those removals permanent.
