Ishpeming Murder Arrest
Ishpeming police arrest a suspect in what they believe was a murder in the city Tuesday night.
51-year-old Wayne Perry was found unconscious at 320 West Johnson Street in the city shortly before 7 Tuesday night.
He died at Bell Hospital.
Police originally thought it was an overdose of some kind.
But Perry had head injuries that weren’t visible to the naked eye.
Ishpeming Police Chief Jim Bjorne says even though results from yesterday’s autopsy aren’t back yet, the head injuries lead them to think it was a homicide, and they’re treating it as such.
Perry lived at 315 South 3rd Street in Ishpeming.
The toxicology tests haven’t come back yet.
But they’re continuing the investigation, talking to witnesses and having the State Police forensic lab in Marquette process the scene.
They arrested a suspect late this afternoon.
His name isn’t available yet.
But police say he’s a 46-year-old Ishpeming man.
He’s expected to be arraigned Monday morning on a charge of open murder.
