Ski Hills Look Ahead to Busy Season
With fresh snow on the ground and a lot more on the way, businesses like Marquette Mountain are excited to begin their busy season.
The National Weather Service has a lake effect snow advisory for Marquette and Alger Counties until 8 tonight.
They also have a winter storm watch in effect from tomorrow night through late Wednesday night.
They’re expecting the most numerous snow showers to affect areas near Lake Superior from Big Bay to Marquette, and over areas east of US-41 to Chatham and Munising.
However, this past November was one of the warmest Novembers on record.
the lack of snow pushed Marquette Mountain’s opening for the season 2 weeks behind the normal schedule.
But with some snowfall over the weekend and quite a bit more expected this week, Marquette Mountain general manager Vern Barber is optimistic the mountain will be back to where it should be before Christmas.
He says the skill hill is opening for the season this Thursday.
For now, it’ll be open for now from 10 to 5, Thursday through Sunday.
