More Getting Food Assistance in Marquette County
More families statewide and locally are getting food assistance and because of the stimulus package are able to get more food.
The challenging economic times means Michigan’s food assistance program is seeing more families than ever before.
In Marquette County, about one of every eight people are getting food assistance.
Stimulus funds have increased the program benefits by 13.6%. A family of four now gets about 80 dollars more.
It’s still over a month away before the total for this fiscal year and as of June of this year, over 1600 more in Marquette County are getting help.
The department of human services is looking to put food assistance program application online next month.
