Navy Cadet Training Ship Docks in Marquette
If you were near Marquette’s Lower Harbor today, you may have noticed a large, unfamiliar ship.
It’s the U.S. Navy’s sea cadet training vessel making a stop in the area.
The ship is called the Gray Fox, and it’s a former torpedo recovery ship now used for training.
Young people from 13 to 18 years old get sea cadet training on it.
They get to learn firsthand about the military, including taking the Gray Fox on a 10-day Great Lakes tour.
The Sea Cadet Training Program is worldwide.
The teens on the Gray Fox come from across the U.S. and Canada.
For some of them, it was their first visit to Marquette.
The Gray Fox will move on to St. Ignace tomorrow morning, and they’ll wrap up the tour downstate in Port Huron.
