Cool Temps Aren’t Really All That Cool

If you’ve stepped outside at all in the last week or so, you’ve likely noticed something different — unusually cool temperatures just about all the time.

With the temps not getting out of the 60s, many people have brought sweatshirts and pants back out of their closets instead of tank tops and shorts.

The average high temperature for the Marquette area this time of year is in the mid-to-upper-70s.

But before you can question whether or not we’re actually having a summer, you may want to wait a few days.

Although these days in the 60s are somewhat unusual, it’s still within the normal range.

National Weather Service meteorologist Steffanie Kolbus works out of the NWS weather station in Negaunee Township.

She says once you go back in the records past the last 8 to 10 years, there were many summers like this.

Kolbus says next week, after the low pressure system that’s over us right now moves out, we’ll return to mid-70s temperatures.
