Guilty Plea to Youth Basketball Tournament Attack
A Negaunee man avoids going to trial in Iron Mountain by pleading guilty to an attack at a youth basketball tournament.
47-year-old Scott Mentel was slated to go to trial this morning for misdemeanor aggravated assault.
But he’s pleaded guilty to the charge instead.
The incident happened at Kingsford High School January 31st.
It involved Mentel and another adult at the Little Dribbler tournament for elementary-school-age kids.
Earlier in the case, Kingsford Public Safety said Mentel turned himself in a few days after the incident.
