Keweenaw National Historical Park May Expand

Calumet may be close to selling some of its land to the Keweenaw National Historical Park.

The park superintendent has asked village officials if they might want to sell the Italian Hall Park property on 7th Street.

9 months ago, the KNHP took over the responsibility of maintaining that area.

If the Italian Hall Park would change hands, the group would buy a piece of land next to the Union building on 5th Street first.

That land is being renovated so displays about life in the old copper boom days can go there.

The village council voted to keep talking with park officials about selling both properties.
