No Charges for Owner of Frozen Dog

The dog owner who left an Alaskan malamute outside in the cold long enough for him to freeze to the ground won’t face any criminal charges.

Houghton County Prosecutor Fraser Strome says there are no indications the dog, named Sutton, was abused in any way.

Sutton was found covered in snow in late January, frozen to his owner’s driveway.

Strome says the owner and Sutton’s veterinarian made a joint decision to put him down 2 weeks ago.

Sutton was 14 years old, deaf and suffering from arthritis.
