Joseph’s SuperValu Foods Sold
A fixture of the downtown Ishpeming business community is about to look a lot different.
Joseph’s SuperValu Foods is changing hands.
The new owner is a local man who has asked the media to not disclose his identity.
Current owner Nick Joseph says he’d been working on selling the store for about a year.
It’s been in its current home since 1984 but his family has kept the store going since 1949.
By most people’s standards, this would be considered a retirement.
But after taking 4 to 6 weeks off to figure out where, Joseph says he’ll go right back to work somewhere around, perhaps as a volunteer.
The employees and customers are what he’ll miss most, saying they’re also people he’s come to know and care about.
The new owner takes over on Sunday.
He met the employees this morning.
Joseph says he has plans to update the store’s appearance over the next few months.
