Plea Deal in Ishpeming Burglary

An Ishpeming woman pleads to lesser charge coming out of a city buglary from this fall.

However, she won’t go to jail.

41-year-old Robin Sharon has pleaded guilty to obstructing a police officer.

She’s been sentenced to a year of probation.

Sharon asked for delay-of-sentence probation.

With that, the charge would be removed from her record if she finished probation without incident.

The judge didn’t grant it to her.

Sharon was originally charged with being an accessory to a felony after the fact.

City police believe her son, Gregory Kauppila, was involved in an armed robbery on Maple Street in September.

He’s one of 4 people accused of taking money and drugs from a woman at gunpoint.

Police accused Sharon of hiding evidence and making misleading statements in an effort to protect her son.
