Propane Leak Evacuates Homes
A car accident leads to some Marquette Township residents having to evacuate their homes and their road being shut down.
The wreck happened a little before midnight last night on County Road 550.
County sheriff’s deputies say a 2007 Chevy Malibu was heading north on that road and lost control.
The driver hit a propane tank near a house and ruptured a gas line.
Several homes had to be evacuated because of the propane leak.
No one was hurt, and the leak has been cleaned up, so everyone who had to leave home has gone back.
The road had to be closed for about an hour as part of that cleanup effort.
The accident is still under investigation, but the Sheriff’s Department says high speed and alcohol use are believed to be factors.
