Drowning victim identified as Hannahville man

ESCANABA — On Thursday, November 21, 2019 at approximately 1:30p.m., Delta County Central Dispatch received a call of what appeared to be a body floating in the water. Escanaba Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the location and located a male subject floating face down just off shore east of the Harbor Master building.

Officers were able to pull the body ashore and confirmed the identity to be Anthony McCullough, 55 years old, from the Hannahville Tribal Community. Mr. McCullough was pronounced deceased at the scene and transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital by Rampart EMS until notification of family could be made.

Mr. McCullough appears to have been a victim of an accidental drowning, but investigation continues in trying to determine where Mr. McCullough may have been seen prior to his death. Foul Play is not suspected in this matter.

Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by the Delta County Sheriff Department, Rampart EMS, and Delta County Central Dispatch.
