UPDATE: Body found in Escanaba river identified as missing man
UPDATE — The Forsyth Township Police Department found a body in the Escanaba River around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, and they have identified it as Daniel McLaughlin.
McLaughlin was first reported missing on Tuesday after last being seen at his camp on Monday, June 3rd. His body was found about 2 miles away from his camp on the river, and police say no foul play is suspected. The cause of death has not been determined at this time and is pending an autopsy.
The Forsyth Township Police Department wants to extend a thank you to everyone that helped in the search, which included the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Fire Division Aviation Unit, the Marquette County Sheriff Department Special Operations and Search and Rescue and K9 units, the Michigan State Police K9 and Aviation units, Valley Med Flight, TriMedia Environmental & Engineering Services for assisting with a drone, La Dolce Video and Design for assisting with a drone, and all of the family and friends of Mr. McLaughlin who helped in the search.
UPDATE — Authorities will be resuming the search for 48-year-old Daniel McLaughlin Wednesday morning between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m.
Search crews were said to be searching late into the night Tuesday. Representatives from search crews expressed at closing search efforts on Tuesday say that it is very important that properties across the river and on iron pin road are aware of the search for the missing individual.
Authorities said there were properties with fences/gates they couldn’t access and some property owners may not live there year round.
It is importantfor all members of the community to know about the search, so access can be open to search crews.
Volunteers in the search say that additional community participation could make a big difference.
Authorities are expected to release more information soon going into detail as to how community members can assist in the search.
FORSYTH TOWNSHIP — The search continues for a missing man in Forsyth Township.
The Forsyth Township Police Department is searching for 48–year–old Dan McLaughlin on County Road EEH near the Escanaba River.
McLaughlin was last seen at his camp on Monday June 3rd at approximately 4:15 p.m.
