Bike Week kick-off to promote bicycling on campus and in the community
MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University began Monday with the kick-off of their inaugural Bike Week.
Bike Week launched as a way to get increased ridership around campus and promote better bicycling habits for students, faculty and the community.
There are events that will be happening throughout the week. Today’s event was the Bike Fair.
“It’s just kind of to promote the idea that we have a great recreational community here but, bikes can be a solution to some of our transportation issues that we’re facing and that it is a much more sustainable option compared to a car, walking is also useful as well” said Bike Week Co-Coordinator, Ryan Watling.
Everyone is invited to attend the events and they are free of charge.
The last event is on Wednesday; all events can be found here.
If all goes well this week, the coordinators are planning on having another Bike Week for the fall semester.
