MARQUETTE COUNTY — The State Police and highway patrols will be working hard together to try and reduce the amount of accidents that occur on this 4th of July holiday.

The State Police Troopers in all 50 states will be joining their counterparts in the international traffic safety initiative, Operation C.A.R.E., (Crash, Awareness, and Reduction Efforts). But this can only be accomplished if people are notifying the police of any dangers that are presenting its self on the road.

These dangers can include drivers distracted at the wheel or even under the influence when operating a vehicle.

“We will have extra patrols on the road,” said State Police, Trooper Stacey Rasanen. “So if you get behind the wheel, be sure you are sober and if you decide to drink make sure you have a responsible driver. We will also be targeting distracted driving.”

The State police hope to reduce as many accidents as possible and keep everyone safe on the roads for the holiday.
