No injuries reported in single-vehicle rollover accident

SANDS TOWNSHIP — A rollover accident occurred Monday afternoon in Sands Township on M-553 near Flodin Road.

Officers from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the scene of a one car personal injury accident just after 1:30 p.m. The original call stated that the driver was entrapped, but upon arrival, officials noted that the driver was able to exit the vehicle without assistance.

The driver was identified as Bruce Thompson of Gwinn.

According to police, Thompson was traveling northbound on M-553 when he attempted to pass another vehicle. He was driving too fast for conditions, lost control of his vehicle and exited the roadway. The vehicle then rolled twice before landing upright.

Thompson denied medical treatment on the scene. He was cited for driving too fast for conditions and driving without proof of insurance.
