Beacon House lists property for sale

MARQUETTE–After securing land for their newly planned facility, The Beacon House has officially listed their property on the market. The non-profit is seeking $1.5 million in the sale, in order to create an endowment with the funds remaining after paying off their building loan.

The Hospitality House of the UP borrowed 1.5 million to create the Beacon House from the original Village Inn, and they still owe nearly $800,000 to Range Bank. The Beacon House will also need to raise $5 million in trade, in-kind services, and monetary donations before breaking ground on their new facility near the UPHS-Marquette hospital site. The hospitality house says once the current property is sold, and the new facility is being constructed, guests can still stay at the rooms available at the hospital.

“We have really been living off of the love of so many people and so many businesses and organizations for the 15 years we’ve been in this building,” said Hospitality House of the UP CEO, Mary Tavernini Dowling. “We’re eternally grateful for everyone who’s allowed us to do what we’ve done to this point, and then for the support that we know we’re going to have on the next part of our journey.”

The property on Third Street has been listed with Darlene Martin from Select Realty, someone the Beacon House confidently says they trust will find a buyer.
