Local artist in the spotlight for Pioneer Week
Neguanee– Today some people got to meet their favorite local authors.
As a part of Pioneer week, six authors were available for book signing at the Negaunee Library today. Fans had a chance to meet the authors, buy the books and then have them signed.
Jessica Holman, the Director of Neguanee Libraries said the event was put on to help promote the authors and their work.
Holman said “It lets people meet the authors, because their celebrities in their own right of course. And also it gets publicity for the books and the authors and it expands their reach.”
One attendee was Writer Robert Dobson creates books on the history of Ishpeming and Negaunee.
“I meet a lot of people who have like interests, I often give talks and often a lot of the same people will come to my talks, because their also interested in history,” said Dobson, “They’re also interested in roads, railroads and mines, I’ve got two mine books. So I think it’s just a following, there’s a group of us, really.”
This is the first day of Pioneer Week and there will be events throughout the town through Saturday.
