Man enters plea deal in domestic violence case
HOUGHTON — A Hancock man will be sentenced later this year for attacking a woman with a knife.
41–year–old Jeremy Looper pleaded “No Contest” to Felony Domestic Violence, a five–year felony. Because of his prior criminal record, Looper could be sentenced for up to seven years.
The original charges of 1st Degree Home Invasion and Assault with a Deadly Weapon were dismissed. The charges stem from an incident in June when police say Looper attacked a Lake Linden woman at her apartment.
Looper and the victim had reportedly been in a relationship together at one point. Sentencing is scheduled to take place in December.
In the meantime, Looper will remain in the Houghton County Jail.
