WASHINGTON, D.C. — A new bill making its way through the U.S. House of Representatives aims to help find out how exposure to toxic chemicals may be affecting veterans.

Congressman Dan Benishek’s office reports that HR 1722, also known as the Toxic Exposure Research Act of 2015, has earned over fifty co-sponsors from both parties. If enacted, the bill would create a Center of Excellence at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to research and investigate the effects of toxic exposure on veterans and their descendants.

The bill was voted unanimously out of the Sub-Committee on Veterans Health and will now be considered by the full Veterans Committee.
