Partridge Creek Farm ready for ribbon cutting
ISHPEMING — After over a hundred volunteers and over one thousand volunteer hours of work, the Partridge Creek Farm will be hosting its grand opening at noon on Saturday.
The farm is located on Euclid Street behind Bell Forest Products. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place and allow the public to see what the farm has to offer to the community. Half of the farm will be designated as community gardens and the other half will be used for scientific research.
“We’re experimenting with prototype greenhouse, a hoop house and outdoor beds,” said Partridge Creek Board Chairman Dan Perkins, “we’ve got interns from three different universities working on this project trying to discover a way to produce food in the Upper Peninsula and then taking that and expanding on that model.”
A large quantity of seeds will be moved into the beds tomorrow as well. Perkins added that they plan to have events and updates throughout the summer.
