Michigan unemployment rate remained unchanged in June
The state of Michigan’s unemployment rate for the month of June was 7.5%, remaining unchanged from the May level.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget says this was an improvement from a year earlier. The state’s June 2013 rate was 8.9%. However, it’s still above the national average for June of 6.1%. The national rate was 6.3% in May.
State officials say that after declining consistently from mid-2013 until early this year, Michigan’s unemployment rate has remained essentially flat since March. The state did have 18,000 more seasonally adjusted payroll jobs in June than it had in May. The DTMB’s monthly survey of employers found most of the job gains were in manufacturing and professional and business services.
