Attempted Murder Suspect Kills Self While Fleeing U.P. Police
An Illinois man is dead following an attempted U.P. traffic stop on Wednesday.
The Michigan State Police said multiple agencies were pursuing 53-year old Karl Lymas in Gulliver. Lymas refused to stop and shot himself.
Police in St. Louis put out a “be on the look-out” for Lymas in connection with the attempted murder of his ex-wife.
Authorities thought he was trying to get to Canada.
He died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene, according to MSP.
Lymas was from the OFallon, area in Illinois.
MSP troopers from the Manistique Outpost were assisted in locating Lymas by the Sault Tribal Police, Manistique Public Safety, Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan Department of Natural Resources officers .
Detectives from the Gladstone post responded to the scene and worked with detectives from the St. Louis Police Department following the incident.
