UPHS celebrating Nurses Week, asks public to #ThankAHealthcareHero
MARQUETTE — UPHS is joining other hospitals around the country in celebrating vital healthcare workers for a whole week.
UPHS is recognizing Nurses Week, an entire week dedicated to nurses around the country. While nurses have been commended on social media extensively for their work with the COVID–19 crisis, this week also recognizes all they do, even before the pandemic.
“Nurses definitely have been recognized a lot on social media a lot about being the front line workers and being involved with the patients,” said Rebecca Bahrman, Clinic LPN at Lakewood Medical. “This week is definitely important to celebrate that and what nurses do for those patients, not only during the pandemic, but all the time.”
Nurses Week officially started on May 6th, and goes until the 12th.
UPHS, along with other hospitals, are also recognizing the month of May as National Nurse Month, which specifically applauds nurses’ efforts in fighting the COVID–19 virus.
UPHS is encouraging members of the community to leave a thank–you note for nurses here.
