Jackson’s Pit helping keep children fed during COVID-19 pandemic
NEGAUNEE — With schools being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic some families have been worried about how their young ones will get food. Not only are some schools offering lunches and breakfast for students, there are also local restaurants trying to help provide nutritional lunches as well.
Jackson’s Pit in Negaunee is doing their part in helping make sure children in the surrounding communities are being fed. The restaurant is making packed lunches for kids ages 18 and under to come pick up at the businesses location. These packed lunches are free of charge. Jackson’s Pit is looking to help as much as possible with feeding kids and also helping show the youth what a strong community is all about.
“It’s heartwarming, but it’s also our view as we don’t know any other way,” explained Ivy Ridenour, Owner of Jackson’s Pit. “We are avid believers in teach children in a community on how to be community strong. All that good stuff comes from somewhere and it’s the just the least we can do for the kids.”
