Rippling River Resort to host Snowshoe Under the Stars on Friday
MARQUETTE — On Friday, February 7, Rippling River Resort in Marquette is hosting their first ever Snowshoe Under the Stars event.
The event is free of charge, and it’s open to anyone who would like to attend. From 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., snowshoers can make their way along the trail, then warm up by the fire with free hot chocolate and cookies or with a drink at the lodge bar.
Rippling River Resort Event Coordinator Joanna Emigh hopes that the community will enjoy this unique outdoor experience.
“It’s a trail along the Carp River on our property,” said Emigh. “We’re lighting it up only by lanterns. You kind of take a little stroll through the woods, and at the end is a bonfire. You can enjoy it for a little bit, have a s’more, and then come back to our lodge and have a drink. We’ll also have a bonfire going around here as well.”
Snowshoe Under the Stars is designed for snowshoers of every level. You don’t have to have any experience at all or even own a pair of snowshoes to have a good time.
“It’s totally free, so it’s a good opportunity to try snowshoeing, and it’s a pretty good place to start,” said Emigh. “We do have snowshoes that you can use here, and that’s free as well. So if you’ve never tried it, this would be a good opportunity to do that. It’s a self–guided hike, so you just go at your own pace and come back at your own pace, so it’s really simple for a lot of people.”
Emigh says that Rippling River Resort would like to see this become an annual tradition in the coming years. For more details, you can visit the event Facebook page here.
