Holiday Parade and tree lighting ceremony spreads cheer in Marquette
MARQUETTE — The holiday spirit was in full force earlier tonight, with a parade in Marquette.
Members of the community braced the cold to partake in the festivities, all to spread a little Christmas cheer throughout town.
“It’s a lot of fun,” said Tara Laase-McKinney, Promotions & Events Coordinator for the Marquette Downtown Development Authority. “We get different businesses and organizations from all over the community to join in and to spread Christmas cheer to everybody throughout downtown.”
The parade started at the Berry Events Center, and ended at the Marquette Commons downtown.
Santa Claus joined Marquette Mayor Jenna Smith for the ceremonial tree lighting to end the night.
