Search for missing fisherman suspended in Marinette County
MARINETTE — Marinette County County Sheriff Jerry Sauve says the search has been suspended for a missing fisherman on the Menominee River.
Sauve says 58-year-old Benjamin J. Tart Jr. of Iron River is presumed drowned. Tart is described as six feet tall, 250 pounds and was wearing outdoor, Carhartt type clothing.
He was one of two men in a boat that capsized Monday morning on the Menominee River. The other person was pulled to safety.
The sheriff is asking people in the area of the lower Menominee River to be aware of the situation and to tell local authorities of any information that they may have.
