Dickinson Area Community Foundation recently awarded a $250 mini-grant

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson Area Community Foundation recently awarded a $250 mini-grant to North Elementary School in Iron Mountain for its running program, “Luv2Run.”

The program is free of charge for kindergarten through eighth-grade students to help build confidence, to have the ability to accomplish a 5k.
Students run 2 days a week after school to help build their endurance.
Not only are they learning how to exercise properly, they learn healthy eating habits as well.

“I think it’s so important for kids to be active and live healthy. I have seen my kids come into the program, not able to run; mostly walking. To then feeling so confident in themselves and running so much more than they are walking,”

The students in the Luv2Run program will participate in two running events this spring, a “Couch to 5k” run in Iron Mountain and the Cellcom in Green Bay.
