UPDATE: Three subjects interviewed in Ishpeming drive-by shooting, one arrest

UPDATE, SEPTEMBER 6th, 2018, 2:00 PM: 24 year old, Brandon Lee Schiefel, was arrested without incident in the City of Ishpeming on a 12 Count warrant issued by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office .

The authorized charges are all felonies and are:

One Count Assault with Intent to Murder.

One Count Discharge a Firearm in/or at a Building.

One Count Discharge a Firearm from a Vehicle.

Three Counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon/ Felonious Assault.

Six Counts of Felony Firearms.


UPDATE, AUGUST 29TH, 2018, 12:44 PM: Brandon Schiefel, Alicia Kerkeal and Michael Fletcher have all been located an interviewed. No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains open.


ISHPEMING — Ishpeming police detectives have confirmed that there was a drive by shooting at 635 Iron Street late Tuesday night.

At approximately 9:59 PM hours, on Tuesday, August 28, The City of Ishpeming Police Department was dispatched to 635 Iron St, for the report of gun shots. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a drive by shooting had occurred at that residence. No injuries were reported. The suspects fled the scene in a Buick that was later located abandoned by officers.

They are currently looking for the following subjects who are considered as people of interest: 24–year–old Brandon Lee Schiefel of Ishpeming, 29–year–old Michael Paul Fletcher Jr of Marquette and 26–year–old Alicia Anne Kerkela of Ishpeming.

A search of the area was completed by officers with assistance from the MSP and the Marquette County Sherriff’s Office. Several houses within the city were searched.

At approximately 6:58 AM on August 29th, officers received a tip that the suspects in the shooting were hiding out in an apartment in the Phelps Square Apartments. Officers responded to the scene and conducted a search of the apartment and building and did not locate any of the subjects.

The City of Ishpeming PD is asking anyone with information about the shooting or whereabouts of the people of interest to contact their office at 486–4416 or 911. The incident is under investigation at this time. The MSP crime lab assisted with processing the scene at 635 Iron St.
