No injuries after Escanaba house fire
ESCANABA — On Saturday, June 16th at approximately 2:17 A.M., Escanaba Public Safety was dispatched to 408 South 18th St. in Escanaba for a report of a house fire. Upon arrival, officers found heavy smoke in the upper level of the house, coming out of the eaves. They were able to locate the fire in the attic and get it under control in a short amount of time. Due to the construction of the house, it took some more time to fully extinguish the fire. The house sustained extensive fire, water and smoke damage.
The resident of the home was awakened by his smoke alarm, and was able to exit the home. He was not able to find his cat. Once the fire was under control, firefighters searched for and located the cat, which was then turned over to the owner. Rampart EMS provided treatment for smoke inhalation.
