ISHPEMING — Aspen Ridge Middle and Elementary school hosted their 19th Annual Family Night this Wednesday. This event allows Families to get a chance to spend time with each other and the rest of the community.

The idea behind this event is to help bring families together and allow them to have some good quality family time while getting to know local businesses. The small businesses within the community came together to donate their time and resources to help the N.I.C.E. community school put the event on.

This allows businesses to give back to the community and have a chance to promote their business as well. Aspen Ridge is grateful for all the resources and support that has been donated to help strengthen the community.

“We have more funding, more creativity and more options available to us,” said, Child and Family Resource Coordinator, Donna Ballweber. “We bring in SEMCO Energy Inc. to teach about natural gas and Upper Peninsula Power Co. (UPCO) to teach about electricity. There are also fathers and mothers in our schools, so bringing everybody together just makes our community stronger.”

This event happens every year and is free to the public. Any local business that was not able to attend the event is welcomed and encouraged to participate in next year’s family night event.
