Driver arrested on OWI charges after hitting pedestrian
IRON MOUNTAIN — A driver was arrested on OWI charges after hitting and injuring a pedestrian in Iron Mountain Wednesday night.
At 8:30 p.m., the Iron Mountain Police Department and the Iron Mountain Fire Department were dispatched to an accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Hemlock Street near West Brown Street. A passenger car, driven by a 66 year-old man form Kingsford, was turning southbound on Hemlock from West Brown Street and struck a 52 year-old woman from Iron Mountain.
The woman was walking on the side of the road with her dog and a friend. She was transported by Beacon Ambulance to Dickinson County Healthcare Systems for treatment of serious non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was lodged in the Dickinson County Correctional Center on a $1,000 cash bond for operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.
