MORAN — One man has been arraigned on homicide, home invasion and felony weapons charges following the investigation into a suspicious person in Mackinac County.

At 10:30 a.m. Friday, Mackinac County Sheriff’s Deputies and Michigan State Police were called to a residence to investigate a suspicious person in Moran, Michigan. The individual entered a home without permission through a back door.

The homeowner confronted the individual and notified dispatch. The individual had blood on his clothes and, at one point, started taking off his clothes and walked outside.

A deputy and a trooper arrived at that time and detained the individual. During subsequent investigation, authorities learned that he had possibly committed a homicide at a nearby residence. The deputy and trooper checked the residence and found a deceased man inside.

The suspect was taken to Mackinac Straits Hospital for evaluation, and was then lodged at the Mackinac County Jail under the charge of open murder. He was identified as 35 year-old Edward Lawrence Tallman III of Moran.

Tallman was arraigned in 92nd District Court on several charges, including homicide, two counts of first degree home invasion, a felony firearms charge, a felony ammunition charge and felony firearm — habitual offender.
