Superior Health Foundation awards over $100,000 in grants
MARQUETTE — The Superior Health Foundation awarded more than $106,000 in health-centered grant funding Wednesday night at its annual Spring Grants Celebration at the Ramada Inn in Marquette.
Over $85,000 of that money was dispersed in large grants to six different organizations across the UP, including Northern Lights YMCA, the Trillium House, and MARESA. A 50/50 raffle and silent auction featuring gifts from local organizations were also available. The entire night was sponsored by 44North out of Marquette.
“Whether you’re giving a grant of $1,000 or $10,000, we’re touching lives – it never ceases to amaze me how that impacts people and where we live in a society where there’s limited funding for projects, the fact that we’re able to make a difference in those lives is pretty substantial, and we take great solace in that,” said Jim LaJoie, Executive Director of the Superior Health Foundation.
In its five-year existence, the Superior Health Foundation has awarded more than $1.7 million in grant funding.
