MARQUETTE — 2018 marks the fourth year Studio Dance Arts has been in Marquette. The hard work of the students and the staff are yielding results, as the studio now has their first two title winners.

Abby Luke and Autumn Ring earned top honors in the Teen and Junior categories at Applause Talent Dance Competition in Green Bay in February.

“It’s a great achievement, not just for the students, but for myself as well. Just that the hours and the training are definitely on point to be able to allow the students to be able to accept such an amazing award.”

Twelve year-old Abby Luke won the title of Miss Teen Applause, despite competing against dancers who were two to three years her senior.

“It feels pretty good. I wasn’t expecting it,” she said. “I just love dancing.”

Dancing to a jazz solo entitled “Hot Note,” Luke also won a double platinum, earned first in her age category and first overall in the Teen category against 22 other dancers.

In the junior category, 11 year-old Autumn Ring took home the Miss Jr. Applause title. She also won a double platinum, earned first in her age category and third place in the junior category, performing a lyrical piece called “Fly.”

“I had to practice hard and I’d like to thank Ms. Ashley for helping me get to this point,” said Ring. “I’m just really proud of myself.”

Tremblay said both dancers support each other as teammates and work extremely hard at the studio.

“They definitely exceeded my expectations as students. I just can’t wait to see what the future has to hold for them,” said Tremblay.

If you’d like to see Abby and Autumn in action, along with other Studio Dance Arts dancers, the studio is hosting a recital on Saturday, June 9th at 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Roberts Theatre.
