Registration for Superior Dental Day open February 12th and 13th

MARQUETTE COUNTY — Registration for this year’s Superior Dental Day is open Monday and Tuesday, February 12th and 13th. There are 55 openings available to adults who have no insurance or not enough insurance that are in need of oral health services.

To register, contact the Upper Peninsula Area Health Education Center (UP-AHEC) at (906) 227-1628 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. An information packet will then be sent to your home for you to fill out. There are also income requirements in order to participate in the program, which falls at about 200 percent of poverty level.

“We’re trying to capture that section of the population that falls into more of the under-insured area, where they don’t necessarily qualify for other services, but then they would qualify for this service,” said Cindy Noble, the executive director of UP-AHEC. “This is our third year doing it, so we know from in the past how much patients appreciated it and what a good niche that it did fill.”

Superior Dental Day is April 14th. UP-AHEC, in conjunction with West Ishpeming Dental Center and various community grants, covers the cost of cleanings, extractions or X-rays, among other services, as well as educational tables on oral health resources and prevention. Free transportation will be offered to those who request it.

For more information, contact UP-AHEC at (906) 227-1628.
