ISHPEMING — Prom season is right around the corner, and residents at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility aren’t missing out on the experience. The residents at the facility went shopping on Monday for attire to wear at their upcoming Senior Prom.

Enchanted Bridal in Ishpeming donated 80 dresses and Ishpeming’s St. Vincent de Paul contributed dresses and menswear to glam up the residents. Each person picked out their favorite dress at no cost to them and alterations to the outfits will also be provided free of charge.

“We are taking the dresses and, a lot of them are smaller sizes, we’re cutting them up the back and we’re going to tuck them around people in wheel chairs. For the people that walk, we’ll alter them to fit them,” said Unit Secretary Amanda Peredo. “It’s just a fun time to get dressed up for the residents.”

The Senior Prom is on February 17th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The staff hopes that it will be a fun chance for the residents, their friends and their families to dance the night away.
