MARQUETTE — The Advanced Placement government class at Marquette Senior High School placed third in the “We The People: the Citizen and the Constitution” competition at the State Capitol in Lansing over the weekend. The team has been a high finisher for years.

“The kids did an excellent job, it’s the best performance we’ve had by any group in the 14 years we’ve been doing this. They really were outstanding,” Said AP Government Teacher Fred Cole.

They also got a chance to meet with State Representative Sara Cambensy.

“It was really nice, she got us on the floor of the House of Representatives, she greeted the kids and they asked her questions. She used to be a school district employee so it was kind of a nice way to reconnect with students,” said Cole.

Students were asked questions about the Constitution and were to respond with a 4 minute presentation.
