Stolen property investigation leads to arrest
MARQUETTE — A Marquette man was arrested on three charges following an investigation of stolen property on Sunday.
Marquette City Police were dispatched to Lake Superior Village for a report of a stolen vehicle around 9:20 a.m. Investigators discovered that property from the victim’s residence was also stolen.
Around noon on that day, officers observed the vehicle traveling on East Crescent Street and initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 37 year-old Joseph John Manning of Marquette.
Manning was arrested for unlawful driving away of automobile, driving with a suspended license and larceny in a building. The stolen property was later recovered at Manning’s residence.
Manning was lodged in the Marquette County Jail and charges are pending. Unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle is a five-year felony, larceny in a building is a four-year felony and driving with a suspended license is a 93-day misdemeanor.
