NEGAUNEE — “The Turkey-Pokey” and “If You’re Thankful and You Know It” are just two of the five songs performed by Lakeview Elementary School students Wednesday morning.

121 Kindergarten students marched over to the Lakeview Senior Apartments to show their gratitude to residents. For the past three years, the students have paid a visit around Thanksgiving to sing a few Thanksgiving songs, wearing funny turkey hats.

“We talk about all week what we’re thankful for and we wanted to give them something to be thankful for,” said Allyson Solander, one of the Kindergarten teachers at Lakeview Elementary. “They said they were going to wave and they were going to smile and do everything they could to make them laugh to make them feel happy and thankful.”

The kids, the teachers and the spectators all seemed to enjoy themselves. The Kindergarten classes put on the show to thank the residents at Lakeview Apartments for giving them Halloween goodies last month.
