Man arrested after fleeing from police on an ATV

ESCANABA — A 30-year-old man is behind bars after police say he tried breaking into a home Sunday morning in Escanaba.

Escanaba Public Safety was dispatched to a residence on the 1400 block of 5th Avenue South around 1:05 a.m. The woman who called police said a man had a gun and was attempting to gain entry into her home.

Officers arrived within seconds of the call. When they arrived on scene, the male suspect fled south on an ATV well over the posted speed limit and without headlights.

A short chase ensued and the ATV was eventually stopped in the 1300 block of 8th Avenue South. Police found a loaded handgun on the suspect.

Officers arrested him on the following charges:

1. Domestic Violence
2. Attempted Home Invasion
3. Carrying a Concealed Weapon
4. Possession of a Firearm While Intoxicated
5. Fleeing and Eluding
6. Operating While Intoxicated

The suspect is currently lodged at the Delta County Jail on a $125,000 bond awaiting arraignment.
