Coast Guard warns of hazardous weather for Labor Day
CLEVELAND — There will be potentially hazardous weather in the forecast for the Great Lakes this Labor Day weekend. The Coast Guard is urging people to take caution near the water.
Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron and Erie are under Small Craft Advisories and Beach Hazards Statements for various time frames throughout the weekend. During the beach hazards statements, visitors should stay out of the water and off of rocks, jetties and piers. High waves and heavy surfs can unexpectedly sweep a person off structures and into the water.
Even after warnings have been lifted, lake conditions may not be calm for another day or two.
