Tysen Benz remembered on his birthday

MARQUETTE–This afternoon, family and friends gathered at Black Rocks on Presque Isle to honor the life of Tysen Benz, on what would have been his 12th birthday.

Tysen took his own life this last April as a result of a social media prank, and the effects are still felt throughout the community. Chinese lanterns were lit and flown, and others jumped into Lake Superior.

Tysen was a very social, active, and positive young man. He was involved with many sports from soccer to hockey. Today was a special day to celebrate the memory of him.
