MARQUETTE– An 18 year old Marquette teen was arrested under numerous charges after a high speed chase Thursday evening.

According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office a motorcycle was traveling northbound down County Road 550 at a high speed rate. The deputy tried to turn around and locate the motorist but it fled out of sight. The motorcycle turned around on the highway and started heading Southbound ignoring the deputy’s emergency lights, siren, and hand signal to stop.

The driver going high speed failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the roadway and crashed his motorcycle east of the Marquette City limits on County Road 550.

The Marquette resident is uninjured and placed under arrest on numerous charges.

The Marquette City Police and Northern Michigan Public Safety assisted on the scene.
