Residence considered total loss after structure fire

UPDATE — Friday, May 26th, 2017 3:30 p.m. EDT

A residence in Ironwood is considered a total loss after a structure fire early this morning.

At approximately 3:50 A.M., emergency personnel were dispatched to a structure fire on Brogan Street. When officers arrived on scene, the residence was fully engulfed and the roof soon collapsed. The fire was controlled by around 4:45 A.M.

Initially, officers believed the homeowner was inside the building but later learned he was not in the area. No injuries were reported but the home is considered to be a total loss. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and remains under investigation.

Ironwood Public Safety, volunteer firefighters, Beacon Ambulance, Excel Energy, and the City of Ironwood Department of Public Works assisted on the scene.
