UPDATE: Police locate body of missing Crystal Falls man

UPDATE — MARCH 30, 2017 11:20 A.M.

The body of 60-year old Jerry Hamilton of Crystal Falls has been recovered from the Brule River in Florence Township.

On Wednesday around 4:43 P.M., Deputies from the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and officials from the Wisconsin and Michigan DNR recovered the body. The body was found using a remotely operated vehicle, Hamilton was located approximately 10 feet from where his vehicle was found in five feet of water.

Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene, an autopsy is planned. The Florence County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and the Florence Fire Department.


FLORENCE TOWNSHIP, WISC. — Police are looking for a missing person after their vehicle was found on ice 30 feet from shore.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office say that Jerry Hamilton, 60, of Crystal Falls has been missing since Sunday. Deputies were called to Brule River approximately 400 yards upstream from a boat launch for a car on the ice.

Half of the vehicle was in water and the driver was not found. River condition and ice have stopped divers and DNR personal from conducting underwater searches.
